The Adamawa State Police command has arrested one of the suspects linked to the killing of Abbas Yuguda, a 35-year-old Point of Sales (POS) operator.

It was said that Yuguda was attacked in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area while going home after close of business for the day.

In a statement on Monday, the Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident, saying that a group of assailants armed with offensive weapons attacked him, inflicted severe head injuries on him before leaving him in a pool of blood for death.

The police spokesperson further said upon receiving a distress call, operatives from the Mayo-Belwa Divisional Headquarters swiftly arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital, Mayo-Belwa.

“Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment,” he stated.

Nguroje also disclosed that some angry youths in the area trailed one of the suspects, identified as Umar SNU, and subjected him to mob action before the police intervened and rescued him.

According to him, the suspect is now aiding the police in ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), has condemned the killing and assured the public of a thorough investigation to bring all perpetrators to justice.

Morris also warned against jungle justice and urged residents to report criminal activities to the police rather than taking the law into their own hands.
