2027: Evidence Group Warns Members Against Intimidating Residents

The Director-General of the Evidence Group, Eyoma Bassey, has warned members of the organisation against intimidating or harassing residents during their mobilisation campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Bassey gave the warning in Ogoja, Cross River State, during the inauguration of the group’s working committee in the local government area.

He stressed that the organisation would not tolerate conduct that threatens residents or undermines their freedom to decide whether to support the APC.

“We are not here to intimidate people,” Bassey said, warning that the group would remove any member found engaging in intimidation or harassment.

He described the Evidence Group as a youth movement established to mobilise support for the APC and showcase the achievements of President Bola Tinubu and other party leaders.

Bassey urged committee members to take their mobilisation campaign to campuses, villages, wards and polling units, encouraging them to use their initiative to win support for the party.

He also directed members to submit the names of proposed polling-unit coordinators to the group’s leadership for vetting and approval before announcing any appointments or structures.

The director-general said the group would extend its mobilisation campaign to the other four local government areas in Cross River North Senatorial District before moving to the central and southern districts.

The group’s Director of Media and Communications, Andrea Ekeng, said the organisation planned to hold a major convention in Calabar where members would collectively declare support for the APC.

Ekeng urged residents to support Tinubu, Cross River State Governor Bassey Edet Otu and other APC candidates, citing government initiatives and development projects as reasons for backing the party.

He mentioned the Calabar–Itu Road, the Federal Government’s intervention in the state’s oil-well dispute and the approval of the Bakassi Deep Seaport among the developments he said justified the group’s position.

Ogoja Local Government Council Chairman, Chief Agbeh Christopher Eweh, commended the group for bringing its mobilisation campaign to the area and urged members to extend the exercise to other communities across the northern senatorial district.

The event ended with members chanting the group’s slogan, “Evidence! No noise, just proof!” and reaffirming their commitment to the APC’s “5 over 5” campaign.
