Chelsea FC Women have announced that from the 2026/27 season, the first team will play all Women’s Super League matches at Stamford Bridge, making the iconic ground their permanent home.
The decision was made following consultation with the Chelsea Women players, partners, the club’s Fan Advisory Board, and other supporter groups.
The move marks a significant step up from the current arrangement, in which the team has split fixtures between Stamford Bridge and their long-standing base at Kingsmeadow in Kingston, south-west London.
Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor welcomed the announcement, saying the women’s game is growing and the club wants to be “really ambitious” both on and off the pitch. She noted that players want to compete in the biggest stadiums, and that giving fans the opportunity to attend matches at Stamford Bridge will create a truly special experience.
The Blues already play their Champions League home matches at the west London ground, and the move follows in the footsteps of Arsenal, who made a similar switch to the Emirates Stadium last summer.
The club described the move as more than just a venue change calling it “a statement of intent” and an investment in the long-term future of women’s football.
The stadium announcement also comes alongside the launch of a new brand identity called “Never Done,” described as a movement reflecting the Chelsea Women spirit and an ambition to break down barriers and push the game forward.
Kingsmeadow will continue to be used for academy matches, while Stamford Bridge home to 40,000 fans will welcome the eight-time WSL champions from September.
