National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has called on members of the party to rise to the expectations of Nigerians seeking a credible political option ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the party’s National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, the former Senate President stressed the need for the ADC to establish itself as a strong and dependable platform capable of addressing the nation’s pressing challenges.
Mark said many citizens are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the current state of affairs and are looking for a political movement that can offer practical solutions and responsible leadership.
He expressed concern over the country’s worsening security situation, noting that persistent violence and instability have continued to disrupt communities, economic activities, and agricultural production in several regions.
According to him, the economic realities facing ordinary Nigerians are equally alarming. He highlighted rising living expenses, joblessness, shrinking purchasing power, and growing public frustration as issues that require urgent and sincere intervention.
Despite these challenges, Mark maintained that the ADC would not seek to exploit the suffering of citizens for political gain. Instead, he said the party remains committed to supporting genuine efforts aimed at improving national security, economic recovery, and social stability.
The ADC leader also appealed to governments at all levels to intensify measures designed to protect lives and improve the welfare of the people.
Addressing party members, Mark emphasized the importance of unity and discipline within the ADC. He warned against allowing personal ambitions to overshadow the collective goals of the party and encouraged members to resolve disagreements through established internal mechanisms.
He further acknowledged concerns raised by some members regarding the party’s recent primary elections. Assuring stakeholders that all complaints would receive attention, Mark said the leadership would review reports submitted by relevant committees and act in accordance with the party’s constitution.
He stressed that the ADC’s objective is to field candidates who possess integrity, competence, and the ability to win elections while effectively representing the interests of Nigerians.
Mark concluded by urging party supporters and officials across the country to strengthen grassroots structures and remain focused on building a formidable political platform capable of competing successfully in future elections.
