The Action Democratic Party on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, completed its presidential ticket for the 2027 general election with the nomination of Hon. Chinazam Ike as the running mate to the party’s presidential candidate, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Abbas’ Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Jacob Dickson.
According to the statement, Ike’s emergence reflects the party’s commitment to presenting what it described as a united, inclusive and youth-driven leadership for Nigeria.
Abbas said the decision demonstrates the party’s resolve to offer Nigerians a credible alternative capable of restoring hope, strengthening national unity, promoting economic prosperity and delivering purposeful governance.
“This strategic decision reflects our unwavering commitment to building a united, inclusive, competent and youth-driven leadership that truly represents the aspirations of all Nigerians.
“Together, we are determined to offer a credible alternative capable of restoring hope, strengthening national unity, promoting economic prosperity and delivering purposeful governance,” he said.
The statement described Ike, an indigene of Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, as a politician, entrepreneur and youth advocate with more than two decades of leadership and political experience.
It noted that he previously served as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Forum of National Youth Leaders of Political Parties in Nigeria, as well as National Youth Leader of the Action Democratic Party.
According to the party, Ike also served as Project Director of Season.com Nig. Ltd., where he contributed to sustainable housing development and economic growth.
The statement added that he is widely recognised for his integrity, visionary leadership, inclusiveness and commitment to youth empowerment, national development and democratic values.
The ADP described the Abbas-Ike ticket as representing “a generational shift” and a renewed national vision anchored on competence, justice, equity, innovation and service.
It said the ticket symbolises the coming together of Nigerians across regional, ethnic and religious divides in pursuit of a more united and prosperous country.
The party also appealed to Nigerians, particularly youths, women, professionals, traditional institutions and civil society organisations, to support its presidential bid in the 2027 election.
“We call on Nigerians, particularly the youth, women, professionals, traditional institutions, civil society and all lovers of democracy, to join this historic movement as we work collectively towards birthing a New Nigeria founded on justice, opportunity, security and shared prosperity.
“Together, we shall build the Nigeria of our dreams,” the statement added.
The announcement comes as political parties intensify consultations, coalition talks and internal realignments ahead of the 2027 general election.
While the ruling All Progressives Congress has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term, opposition parties have stepped up efforts to position themselves as alternatives.
The Action Democratic Party said it aims to broaden its national appeal by promoting youthful leadership and a governance agenda focused on national unity, economic recovery and inclusive development.
