Dele Momodu has downplayed Peter Obi’s prospects in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the real battle for the presidency will be between incumbent President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
He stated this in a Monday statement titled, “Time for National Reconciliation, Re-Orientation & Reconstruction” and shared on X.
“The 2027 Presidential election is expected to be a major fight between PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU and his biggest challenger, ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR. It promises to be the battle of the Tians,” he said.
The Ovation publisher argued that although a third-force candidate could emerge, as witnessed in the 2023 election, such a challenger would likely lack the political strength and momentum needed to surpass and defeat the two veteran politicians.
The former presidential candidate’s remarks have been interpreted by political analysts as a subtle dismissal of Peter Obi’s prospects, as well as those of other less prominent contenders ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
