Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola on Sunday, August 2, 2026, visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Makinde disclosed the visit in a post on his verified X account on Sunday, August 2, 2026, where he shared photographs from the meeting.

According to the governor, the meeting focused on national issues ahead of the 2027 general election.

“Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election,” Makinde wrote.
He added, “We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history.”
The meeting comes amid increasing political consultations and realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with political leaders across party lines holding strategic engagements on the country’s political future.
Makinde also shared photographs from the visit, including one showing the leaders with Obasanjo and another capturing the Oyo State governor participating in a local game during the gathering.
