All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, has won the polling unit of former Osun State Governor, Bisi Akande, in Saturday’s governorship election.
Oyebamiji secured 181 votes at Polling Unit 12, Ward 4, in the Atogbade area of Ila-Orangun, Ila Local Government Area.
The incumbent governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, polled 121 votes at the same unit.
Akande, a former governor of the state and founding interim national chairman of the APC, cast his ballot at the polling unit earlier in the day.
The result gives Oyebamiji a 60-vote margin over Adeleke at the former governor’s polling unit.
Recall that Akande served as Osun governor between 1999 and 2003 under the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
After his tenure, he served as national chairman of the AD, Action Congress (AC) and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) between 2003 and 2014.
He later became the founding interim national chairman of the APC following the merger that produced the party.
