SDP Holds Congress In Edo, As Roland-Bello Wins Chairmanship Position

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Edo State has concluded its state congress in Benin City, leading to the emergence of new party leaders.

Comrade Imonikhe Kelly Roland-Bello was elected as Chairman, with Ambassador Humphrey Erhahon as Deputy Chairman and Comrade Dominion Osagie Irior as Secretary, respectively.

The congress was conducted peacefully and monitored by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including Uduak Umoh, Head of Department for Election and Party Monitoring, alongside other electoral officers.

Following the exercise, Chairman Roland-Bello praised party members for maintaining order and unity throughout the process, describing the event as a strong reflection of internal democracy within the party.

He expressed confidence in the newly elected executives, emphasizing their readiness to position the party for success in upcoming general elections.

He also called on voters to support the SDP, highlighting its dedication to credible leadership and governance focused on the people’s needs.

Addressing the new leadership, Roland-Bello described their election as both a milestone and a responsibility. He urged them to demonstrate commitment, discipline, and teamwork in strengthening the party and earning public trust.

He stressed the importance of accountability and service, encouraging the executives to embody the core values of the party as they take on their roles.

Meanwhile, INEC representative Uduak Umoh commended the peaceful conduct of the congress and encouraged party members to continue adhering strictly to electoral guidelines in all their political activities.
