Is Otu Secretly Wooing NNPP? Government’s Strong Reply Will Shock You

NIGERIA, CALABAR – The Cross River State Government has refuted claims that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s September 9 visit to Calabar signals a political alliance with Governor Bassey Otu.

Chief Press Secretary Linus Obogo described the speculations as “needless hysteria and mischievous insinuations,” stressing the visit was strictly for investment reconnaissance.

Obogo stated that Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano State, explored the state’s rich agrarian and natural resources as a “fertile ground for enterprise and growth.”

He noted that Governor Otu was in Algiers attending the 5th Afreximbank Sub-Sovereign Business Forum to attract global investments, while Deputy Governor Peter Odey courteously received Kwankwaso.

“This gesture is about respect, hospitality and development, not politics,” Obogo explained, adding that receiving distinguished visitors is routine regardless of party affiliation.

He called the allegations that Otu is “romancing the NNPP” laughable and “the product of idle, demented minds and mischievous tongues,” urging the public to disregard the claims.

Obogo warned that spreading such rumours undermines the dignity of governance and distracts from the administration’s “People First” development agenda.

“Cross River remains open to all investors irrespective of political coloration or geographic origin,” he affirmed. “Governor Otu’s focus is firm, building a prosperous state, not indulging political jesters.”

He urged citizens to dismiss the insinuations with contempt, saying mischief-makers were “merchants of confusion merely stirring muddy waters in the hope of feigning depth.”

According to Obogo, the government will not allow false narratives to derail its commitment to attracting meaningful investment and delivering progress for all residents.
