President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, ahead of the Africa-France Summit scheduled to commence later on Monday.
The Airbus A330-200 conveying the President landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at about 12:15 a.m. local time on Monday, according to a notice issued by the State House media office in the early hours of the day.
Tinubu’s visit to Kenya, his second since July 2023, marks the second leg of a three-nation tour that began in France, where he met with global investors and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fiscal discipline and economic reforms.
The Africa-France Summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will hold from May 11 to May 12.
The summit, themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” will focus on energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, restructuring the global financing architecture and climate action.
The Presidency said Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African nations and France.
According to the Presidency, the President is expected to deliver an address highlighting his administration’s ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a leading destination for investment and economic growth.
Tinubu is also expected to hold high-level bilateral meetings with African and global business leaders on the sidelines of the summit.
Following the Nairobi summit, the President will proceed to Kigali, Rwanda, for the annual Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to 15.
He is expected to return to Nigeria after the Rwanda leg of the trip, ahead of the APC presidential primary slated for May 23.
