Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a deliberate effort to rebuild the South-East through critical infrastructure projects.
Soludo made the remarks in a post shared on his X account on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, following the Federal Government’s approval of the design and procurement of two major federal road projects linking the South-East to other parts of the country.
The approved projects are the Otuocha–Anam–Abaji Road, which will connect Anambra State to Kogi State, and the Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube Road, linking Anambra and Imo states to the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway.
According to the governor, the projects represent a major milestone in addressing decades of infrastructure deficits in the region and demonstrate the Tinubu administration’s commitment to the South-East.
“I can’t contain my joy and that of my people regarding the great news from DIKESIMBA Anambra; DIKESIMBA NDIGBO, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Soludo wrote.
He added that the President was steadily rewriting the region’s history through strategic investments.
“Certainly, President Tinubu has a date with history, and even more so with the South-East. He continues to demonstrate his avowed commitment to orchestrating the reconstruction of the South-East, thereby finally healing the wounds of the Civil War,” he said.
Soludo revealed that he met with President Tinubu on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, to discuss the road projects. He said the following day, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, requested detailed information on the roads, which he submitted on Friday, July 3.
According to the governor, he received confirmation from the Minister on Wednesday, July 15, that President Tinubu had approved both projects for design and procurement.
Describing the roads as transformative, Soludo said they would improve connectivity between the South-East, South-South and North-Central regions while boosting economic activities and regional integration.
“These two roads constitute critical game-changers for the South-East, South-South and North-Central. The man who tamed the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos is certainly redefining politics, and the South-East won’t be the same again,” he stated.
The governor also said the approvals highlighted the importance of constructive engagement and collaboration in governance.
“For me personally, this is why politics makes sense to me: working collaboratively and building alliances to achieve concrete results that improve the lives of the people,” he said.
Soludo concluded by expressing gratitude to the President, saying, “Thank you, Asiwaju! History will be kind to you.”
