The General Overseer and Founder of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly (GGGGA) International Incorporated, Benin, Rev. Sunny Akenbor, has advised Christians against sharing their visions but should allow the outcome of their visions speak for themselves.
Rev. Akenbor gave the advice during the church’s Sunday worship service in Benin City, Edo State, while delivering a sermon titled, “How to Avoid the Unnecessary Battles of Life.”
Speaking from Habakkuk 2:1-3, the cleric said God instructed the prophet to write down the vision and remain focused on it rather than publicizing it prematurely.
“I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts;
I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.
“Then the Lord replied:“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.
“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end
and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay”, Habakkuk 2:1-3.
According to him, this teaches believers the importance of discretion and patience in pursuing divine assignments.
He noted that many people unknowingly invite opposition, envy, and unnecessary conflicts by revealing their God-given plans before they begin to manifest.
“Not every vision God gives you should become a public discussion,” he said. “Sometimes, silence is wisdom.
“Allow people to see the results of God’s promises fulfilled in your life instead of announcing them before their appointed time.”
Rev. Akenbor stressed that allowing achievements to speak for themselves is far more impactful than celebrating expectations that have yet to materialize.
Rev. Akenbor also referenced the biblical account of Joseph, noting that he brought unnecessary hardship upon himself by revealing his dreams to his brothers, whose envy and resentment were stirred by his revelations.
According to the cleric, the hostility that followed eventually led to Joseph being sold into slavery and enduring years of imprisonment before God’s purpose for his life was fulfilled.
He said much of the suffering could have been avoided had Joseph exercised discretion by keeping his visions to himself and allowing them to unfold in God’s appointed time, rather than exposing himself to unnecessary opposition through premature disclosure.
Rev. Akenbor further cited the biblical account of the wise men from the East, who observed the star that signified the birth and location of the infant Jesus.
According to him, after arriving in Jerusalem, they informed King Herod that a new King had been born.
He explained that the announcement enraged King Herod, who, fearing the emergence of a rival, ordered the massacre of all male children within the affected area in a desperate attempt to eliminate the newborn King.
The cleric noted that it was only by God’s divine grace and intervention that Jesus and His earthly parents escaped the king’s deadly plot.
Drawing lessons from the account, Rev. Akenbor said believers should exercise wisdom and discretion in sharing sensitive information, stressing that not every revelation or divine blessing should be made public before its appointed time, as premature disclosure can attract unnecessary opposition and challenges.
