SWAN Seeks Inclusive, Accountable Reforms in Nigeria Football Administration

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has called for comprehensive and sustainable reforms in Nigerian football administration following its engagement with a FIFA/CAF stakeholders’ mission in Abuja.

SWAN presented its position during the stakeholders’ engagement on Monday, after the FIFA/CAF mission met with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) management at its secretariat.

The association’s delegation was led by National President Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, alongside Secretary-General Ikenna Victor Okonkwo and National Deputy Secretary-General Samuel Ahmadu.

The engagement provided SWAN an opportunity to advocate broader stakeholder participation and stronger governance structures across the administration of Nigerian football.

SWAN said the reform process should be “comprehensive, inclusive and sustainable,” with stakeholders playing meaningful roles in shaping the future of the country’s football administration.

The association further reaffirmed its commitment to using the sporting media to promote transparency and accountability within Nigerian football.

According to SWAN, its participation in the engagement reflects the sporting media’s role in advancing inclusivity and supporting the long-term development of Nigerian football.

The association maintained that sustainable progress requires stronger governance and meaningful participation from stakeholders across the football ecosystem.

The FIFA/CAF stakeholders’ mission brought SWAN together with other key football stakeholders as discussions continued around the administration and future development of Nigerian football.

SWAN said it would continue to use its position within the sporting media to support efforts aimed at improving transparency, accountability and inclusivity in football administration.
