Few hours to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national executive committee (NEC) meeting, posters and flex banners have flooded the national secretariat of the main opposition party but very catchy is the one with the caption, remember 2015 with the picture of the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Illiya Damagum.
The 98th NEC meeting amongst other things will decide who will become the substantive National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Indications from the venue reveal that the message on the pposters while urging the NEC of PDP to confirm the Acting National Chairman Amb. Damagum as the substantive National Chairman, rejects the nomination of the former governor of Benue state, Sen. Gabriel Suswam by Atiku Abubakar, for Nigeria Vice President.
The text on the poster reads: Remember 2015;
* Atiku insisted that Bamanga Tukur must go & Adamu Mua’zu must come & what was the out come? colossal disaster for the party.
* Atiku allegedly created faction in PDP & left with them to join APC just to further his presidential ambition at the expense of PDP.
* Atiku allegedly wants to & is trying to repeat his 2015 game in 2024/27. (That’s cause confusion in PDP, then take his faction to go form his proposed merger party for his selfish ambition, same thing he did in 2015).
* In 2017 PDP Constitution was amended just to accommodate Atiku back in PDP.
* In 2023 PDP Constitution section 7(3)c (Zoning) was suspended/jettisoned to accommodate Atiku presidential ambition.
* Gabriel Suswam that Atiku is allegedly presenting to the NEC for national chairman position failed woefully as a seating governor to win the 2015 presidential, gubernatorial & senatorial elections et al. He lost it to APC. If he comes, PDP will retrogress.
* In 2023 under his watch PDP lost woefully in his home state of Benue state. PDP came a distant third position.
* When Secondus from the South South was suspended, Yemi Akinwonmi from the South West presided over the party affairs till the next convention.
– Confirm Damagum & Safe PDP; Bring Suswam & Retrogress/Destroy PDP
* Damagum has handle the affairs of PDP fairly well
* Damagum is a Legacy member/Leader who has never left PDP before
* Under Damagum’s watch PDP won the 2023 presidential election in Yobe state, among other things.
* Damagum is the right choice for PDP now.
The Blame will be on the NEC, if 2015 repeat it self.
These are some of the messages encrypted on the banners now hanging outside the PDP secretariat at Wadata House.
Further information gathered by our reporter reveals that, posters were pasted last night without the name or logo of the individual or group(s) that sponsored it.
