President Bola Tinubu has greenlit a multibillion Naira project aimed at expanding 12 River Basin Development projects nationwide, focusing on enhancing irrigation farming and securing food supply, announced Musa Kwankwaso, Director of Finance at Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority.
In a statement released on Saturday, Kwankwaso highlighted that this presidential approval underscores Tinubu’s dedication to national development, particularly in the Northern region, through agricultural advancements. He stated, “The approval for the expansion of the River Basins would boost food production and address hunger and starvation across the country.”
Truth Live News learnt that Kwankwaso also praised the efforts of Abubakar Kabir Bichi, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, for securing the necessary budget approval. He added, “The position of the House of Representatives Appropriation Committee Chairman, Bichi, on the budget approval clearly shows that he is standing with President Tinubu and together they would be reelected in 2027.”
The director further elaborated on the expected benefits of the project, stating that it would lead to self-sufficiency in food production. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership and for also allocating N150 billion in the 2025 Appropriation bill for the construction of a railway line in Kano City,” Kwankwaso said.
He explained that the new railway would not only revolutionize transportation but also enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, and stimulate economic growth in Kano. “The railway line would improve the quality of life of residents of Kano and position the city as a hub for commerce and industry,” he added.
Kwankwaso also acknowledged the broader infrastructure focus of Tinubu’s administration, noting, “President Tinubu’s administration has demonstrated a clear focus on infrastructure development, evident in the 2025 budget’s emphasis on revitalizing hospitals and investing in healthcare infrastructure. We acknowledge President Tinubu’s efforts to stimulate economic recovery and growth, as reflected in the 2025 budget’s projections, including another allocation of billions of Naira for the revitalization of over 12 dams for irrigation farming.”
