English Premier League team Manchester United and his former team, U.D. Almeria, are taking notice of Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar Mesbah.
Umar, 26, has made thirteen appearances for his team, Real Sociedad, this season, although he has only contributed one assist and has yet to score a goal.
In the summer of 2022, the former Roma forward joined Txuri-Urdin, taking Alexander Isak’s position as he moved on to Newcastle United.
The Nigerian’s move didn’t work out as planned since a few weeks after making his La Real debut, he tore his right knee’s ACL, missing the rest of the season.
He hasn’t found the back of the net since his comeback, but it’s thought that Almeria, his former team, is interested in getting him back to help him regain his form.
The striker is hoping to return to Almeria, where he enjoyed his finest season to date—43 goals and 13 assists in 84 games with Rojiblancos La Unión Almeriensistas UDA Indálicos—according to Spanish publication OkFichajes.
In order to add upfront depth to their roster, Manchester United is also willing to sign the former Rangers striker. The red-devils are sixth in the Premier League and have only won one match in the Champions League this year.
Rasmus Hojlund, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford are all struggling with fitness, so Erik Ten Haag is forced to make moves during the winter transfer window.
The teams that are interested in Umar will be watching to see if he makes Jose Peseiro’s AFCON squad. If he does, they will need to reassess the transfer’s value because, should he be called up, they will have to forfeit at least a month of club football.
