A tragic accident near the Federal University, Lafia, has claimed the life of a student, Ifeoma Blessings Nweke, after she was struck by a tricycle rider on August 13.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. when Fedelis Zakka, a tricycle rider from Agyarangu Tasha in Obi Local Government Area, hit Nweke while she was crossing the road with friends near the campus speed bumps. Zakka was transporting female passengers from Kayarda, Obi LGA, to the university gate at the time of the collision.
According to police reports, Nweke was rushed to the Federal University Lafia Clinic for treatment and later transferred to the National Hospital in Abuja, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The tricycle rider, Fedelis Zakka, has been arrested, and the vehicle has been impounded at ‘A’ Division, Lafia, as authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
