The Nigerian Army troops, alongside police and vigilantes, successfully rescued eight kidnapped victims in a daring operation in Obajana, Lokoja Local Government Area, on Thursday.
The operation was launched following intelligence received at approximately 3:30 a.m., indicating that kidnappers were moving their captives through Obajana toward Ankome Forest. Troops swiftly ambushed the kidnappers, engaging them in a fierce gun battle. The confrontation forced the kidnappers to flee, some with bullet wounds, abandoning their captives.
The rescued victims, all unharmed, were identified as Adamu Saje, Abdulmumini Yunusa, Abdul Abubakar, and Halima Abdullahi from Usugwe community in Okehi LGA, abducted on August 12, along with Abubakar Tukur and Hafsatu Abubakar from a Fulani camp in the Apata area.
Authorities have contacted the families of the victims, and the joint team continues to pursue the fleeing suspects for possible arrest.
