The Federal High Court has fixed 7 October to hear a suit seeking disqualification of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in next year’s presidential election.

Justice Ahmed Muhammed on Wednesday adjourned the matter after the first plaintiff, Newgent Ekamon informed the Court that his lawyer, Wilfred Okoi, who was present earlier suddenly took ill, and had to leave to get treatment.

Following this information, Justice Muhammed therefore scheduled a later date to hear the matter, when Mr. Ekamon’s lawyer would be in a good state of health to take part in the case which has Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike as the second plaintiff.

Meanwhile, the National Legal Adviser of the PDP says Mr. Wike has informed him that he is playing no part in the suit seeking disqualification of the PDP’s Presidential flagbearer.

The plaintiffs had sued the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Atiku, and Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, in a quest to declare Wike winner of the PDP Presidential primary held in May.
