Some angry protesters today February 15, destroyed stands owned by Point of Sales POS Operators due to the exorbitant charges to collect the new naira notes from them in Warri, Delta state.
According to the protesters, prior to the Naira crunch, operators now charge N1500 to collect N5000 as against N100 they were earlier charging.
The POS operators claim that they also have to buy the new Naira notes from bank staff or fuel station attendants, so the only way they can get their profits is by charging that high.
Many of the operators have since scampered for safety to avoid being lynched by the angry protesters.
