A yet to be identified woman has slumped and died near a Point of Sale (POS) stand, 5-junction, Benin City, while trekking home after early Sunday service.
Immediately she slumped, she was said to be rescued by passersby to a private hospital beside Uwa Market, Television Road, where she was certified dead by a medical Doctor.
One of the passersby who took the woman to the hospital, and identified himself as Osamudiamen, said no mobile phone or any contact list was found with the victim when her bag was checked, making it impossible to contact the victim family.
He lamented that the resolution by the hospital management not to keep the victim’s corpse in their mortuary even after several hours plea, and more so the fruitless search for the deceased family members with the support of other concerned residents, complicated their nightmare.
Osamudiamen said, “The incident happened at 5-junction. The woman was trekking on the road after attending early morning church service. And she suddenly slumped near a PoS stand.
“When we saw her, we mobilized ourselves and assisted her. When we opened her bag, we noticed that she had no phone that we could use to contact any known family member.
“When we took her to the hospital, beside the market, the hospital confirmed her dead, and that she had High Blood Pressure”, Osamudiamen said.
