A deadly school shooting in southeastern Turkey has left at least nine people dead, including eight students and a teacher, after a 14-year-old pupil opened fire inside a middle school.
Officials said the incident occurred in Kahramanmaras, where multiple others were injured, some critically. Authorities confirmed the attacker was a student at the school and later died during the incident.
Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci described the shooting as an isolated act, stating it was not linked to terrorism.
According to local officials, the teenager brought several weapons and ammunition to the school, reportedly connected to a family member who had access to firearms. He entered classrooms and fired at students, causing multiple casualties.

Emergency services responded quickly, with ambulances and security personnel arriving at the scene as distressed parents and residents gathered outside the school premises.
The attack comes just a day after another school shooting in Sanliurfa, where a former student injured several people before taking his own life.

School shootings are uncommon in Turkey, where gun ownership is regulated, though firearms remain accessible in certain circles.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and further security measures are expected following the back-to-back incidents.
