Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has maintained a comfortable lead after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared results from all 30 local government areas in the election.
According to the final collated figures, Accord polled 511,067 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 444,815 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) trailed with 17,180 votes.
The declaration of results from the remaining local governments did not alter the overall trend that had emerged earlier in the counting process. Adeleke’s margin of victory stood at more than 66,000 votes once the last batches of results were entered.
Party agents and observers present at the collation centre confirmed that the process was completed without major disruption. INEC officials described the exercise as transparent and in line with electoral guidelines.
Supporters of the Accord Party celebrated the outcome as a strong endorsement of Adeleke’s performance in office.
APC officials, while acknowledging the figures, indicated they would carefully review the results and decide on their next steps.
The announcement brings to an end several hours of tense waiting as results from the final local governments were transmitted and verified. With all 30 LGs now declared, the focus shifts to the formal presentation of the certificate of return and any potential legal challenges that may follow.
The election has been closely watched across the state, with both major parties investing heavily in mobilisation. The decisive lead recorded by Adeleke appears to have settled the immediate contest, at least pending any petitions that may be filed at the election tribunal.
