The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly settled on the North Central geopolitical zone to produce the next National Chairman of the party, following a series of meetings ahead of the National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled for today.

The North Central zone has been agitating for the position since former chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu resigned on June 27, after leading the party to victory in the 2023 presidential election.

—Potential Candidates—

Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda: Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and former governorship candidate of APC in Plateau State, is being considered for the position.

Senator Sani Musa: Endorsed by the North Central APC Accord as the party’s next chairman, described as “the most credible and unifying option”.

Senator Tanko Al-Makura: Former Governor of Nasarawa State, endorsed by the North Central APC Forum as the preferred candidate to replace Ganduje.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has, however, confirmed that the NEC meeting will be brief and centered on appointing a new National Chairman, but the outcome remains uncertain.
