Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has said that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is preparing to leave the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Okowa, who was Atiku’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election, defected to the All Progressives Congress last week.
Okowa stated that he communicated with Atiku before his departure and was informed that Atiku is also heading out of the PDP.
This development comes after Atiku, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai formed a coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
