In the 56th minute, Aubameyang tapped in James’ cross for his first goal in the Champions League since the 2017–18 campaign.

Milan did most of the attacking in the opening minutes of the game, which put Chelsea on the back foot. However, the hosts eventually took the lead.

After winning several headers from corners, Silva started applying pressure to the Milan defense before Fofana scored off a rebound after Tatarusanu parried the ball in the box.

After taking the lead, Chelsea had the game under control and played with much more assurance.

After Aubameyang’s easy tap-in, James added his own goal to make it 3-0, finishing expertly at the near post to give Chelsea the victory.

In Group E, Chelsea surpasses Milan to take second place, dropping the Italians to third.

Prior to the rematch the following week, Milan plays Juventus in Serie A while Chelsea hosts Wolves in the Premier League.
