BREAKING: NDC Demands Sack of Gbajabiamila Over Alleged ₦600m Bribe, Fake Agency Scandal

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has demanded the immediate removal of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over explosive allegations of massive corruption involving a fictitious agency and the alleged sale of appointments.

In a strongly worded press statement dated 3 July 2026, the NDC accused Gbajabiamila of colluding with Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the so-called Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), to siphon public funds through a non-existent agency.

According to the group, the alleged scam involved securing budgetary allocations for the fake agency in the 2026 budget, opening high-level bank accounts at the Central Bank of Nigeria, and approving 314 staff positions, despite the Presidency’s public denial of the agency’s existence.

The NDC highlighted a specific allegation made by Prince Adeyemi that Gbajabiamila demanded ₦600 million as a bribe to secure the appointment.

The group claimed Adeyemi reportedly paid ₦400 million through proxies, with ₦200 million still outstanding.

“These are not mere allegations; they point to a disturbing pattern of institutionalised corruption, including the alleged sale of appointments to the highest bidders, a notorious trademark of the Tinubu administration,” the NDC stated.

The opposition group also linked the scandal to the mysterious death of Mr Babatunde Tanimola, Chief of Staff to Prince Adeyemi, who reportedly died in a fire accident at a hotel in Utako, Abuja, on October 22, 2025, just a day after the Chief of Staff’s petition was received by the Police.

Prince Adeyemi has reportedly raised alarms over multiple assassination attempts on his life, including an incident along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway on September 7, 2025.

In light of these developments, the NDC demanded the immediate removal of Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff to allow for an unbiased investigation, arguing that his continued stay in office constitutes a clear conflict of interest.

The group further called on the President to urgently constitute an independent investigative panel to thoroughly examine all aspects of the scandal, including the operations of the alleged PFIPC, budgetary allocations, account openings, staff approvals, and financial transactions.

The NDC also insisted that the panel must investigate the mysterious death of Mr Babatunde Tanimola and the assassination attempts on Prince Adeyemi, with a view to uncovering the full truth and bringing perpetrators to justice.

It added that Adeyemi should immediately be given witness protection privileges. The Chief of Staff should be compelled to produce all official documents signed since assuming office for forensic analysis, while all relevant actors, including officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Office of the Accountant-General, and the Head of Civil Service, should be questioned.

Finally, the EFCC, ICPC, and Nigeria Police Force must immediately commence a full-scale investigation into the matter without fear or favour.

The NDC warned that it would not accept “a mere defensive press release from the Presidency as a defective ploy,” insisting that Nigerians deserve transparency and justice.

“The culture of impunity and the brazen sale of public appointments must end,” the statement added. “Anyone found culpable in this sordid affair, no matter how highly placed, must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

The Presidency is yet to respond to the fresh allegations as of press time.

The development comes amid growing public scrutiny of appointments and financial dealings within the current administration.
