The Ighodalo/Ogie Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Supporters in diaspora under the leadership of Dr. Peter Uwaibi have voiced their profound disappointment over the ongoing violent actions by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) aimed at intimidating PDP supporters in Edo State.
The diaspora leaders, alongside other concerned PDP members, have condemned the use of thuggish and violent tactics by the APC, which they describe as “primitive” and “barbaric.” They are urging national and international media outlets, especially Arise News, to expose these deplorable acts of APC-led hooliganism currently taking place in Benin, Edo State.
“The actions of the APC thugs threaten the peace and safety of our people,” Dr. Uwaibi said. “This violence must be stopped before it spirals out of control and leaves lasting scars on our state.” He further emphasized that the continued unrest, marked by intimidation and the display of weapons, particularly around the Edo State Election Petition Tribunal, is a direct assault on democracy and peace.
In light of these escalating threats, the diaspora leaders are calling for immediate intervention while urging a PDP National Assembly member to raise an urgent motion addressing the growing violence and the need for action to restore order in the state.
What was once a peaceful Edo State has now become a battleground, with reports of life-threatening actions in various parts of Benin.
Local PDP members fear that without swift action, these violent acts will destabilize the entire state as political tension continue rising, the call for justice and protection for all citizens remains more pressing than ever.
