Youth organizations in Edo State, such as the Edo Youth League, Take it Back Nigeria, Project Action-Up, and the South South-Youth Solidarity Forum, have criticized the APC’s attempt to make Monday Okpebholo the next Governor of Edo State, saying he is unqualified and poorly educated.
This was stated in a joint statement signed by their leaders—Solomon Ehimare (Edo Youth League), Ogbeide Agbonavbare-Ayin (Take it Back Nigeria), Egharevba Nosa (Project Action-Up), and Abhulimhen Festus (South South-Youth Solidarity Forum), while demanding a public apology from Adams Oshiomhole for his controversial protest remarks.
The controversy comes as Nigerians face unprecedented economic hardship, with many blaming the ruling APC party for the crisis.
The groups emphasized that the young people of Edo State will strongly reject and resist the APC, which they believe has put Nigerians through one of the most difficult periods in recent history.
The statement reads in part, “Nigerians have never had it this bad with food inflation, high cost of living, massive unemployment, unprecedented inflation and a massive slump in the value of our Naira.”
“The same party is also now trying to impose an unfit and poorly educated Candidate, Monday Okpebholo on Edo State as Governor to replicate the hardship being experienced by Nigerians in Edo State.
“The young people of Edo State will firmly reject and resist APC, a Party that has made Nigerians go through the most difficult era in our recent history.”
