PDP Guber Candidate, Asue Ighodalo

In a dramatic yet telling chapter of Edo State’s political journey, voters came out to exercise their civic duty in support of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo. Although the voter turnout was lower than anticipated, those who participated demonstrated commendable bravery and commitment to the future of Edo. Despite being confronted with challenges ranging from vote buying to intimidation and outright oppression, they stood their ground and voted for progress.

It is, however, a great disappointment that despite this valiant effort, the votes of the people could not be adequately safeguarded. Disturbing reports from various polling units and centers have revealed that the will of the people was tampered with during the collation process. The manipulation and changing of results at the INEC office have cast a long shadow over an otherwise spirited exercise of democracy.

Nevertheless, Edo voters deserve praise. You showed up, you stood firm, and you voted your conscience. In an election riddled with attempts to undermine the democratic process, the resolve you displayed was extraordinary. Despite the temptation of vote buying, despite the threats and pressures from those who would rather cling to power through unjust means, you made your voices heard. You cast your ballots for Asue Ighodalo, the candidate who represents the true aspirations of Edo State.

But unfortunately, the battle for Edo’s future is not yet won. The brazen changing of results at the INEC office shows the lengths to which some are willing to go to subvert the will of the people. It is disheartening that after overcoming so much adversity to cast their votes, Edo citizens find themselves in a situation where those votes have not been adequately protected.

However, this is not the end of the road. Be assured that Asue Ighodalo is committed to standing by you, the people, to ensure that justice prevails. He is determined to pursue every available legal avenue to return the mandate to its rightful owners—the good people of Edo. The votes you cast were for a better future, for competent leadership, and for a state that prioritizes development over personal gain. Asue will ensure that your efforts do not go in vain.

We cannot overlook the courage of Edo voters. You went out against the odds. You defied the pressures of vote buying. You resisted the intimidation and threats aimed at suppressing your voices. In the face of oppression, you stood firm and made a choice that reflects the true spirit of Edo State.

It is also important to remind the authorities that democracy is not a game, and the manipulation of the electoral process undermines the very fabric of governance. The manipulation of results at the INEC office is a gross betrayal of the trust the people place in the democratic system. While some may believe they have succeeded in subverting the process, the will of the people will ultimately prevail.

Kudos to the voters of Edo State—you have done your part. Though the immediate outcome may not reflect the true picture of your efforts, rest assured that the fight is far from over. Asue Ighodalo will continue to stand by you in the struggle to reclaim the mandate that was so clearly given to him. The path to justice may be long, but with your support, it is a path that will surely lead to victory.

Your courage, your resilience, and your commitment to change will not be forgotten. This election was about more than just casting a vote—it was about choosing a future, and that future is still within reach. Edo, you have done your best, and now it is time for Asue Ighodalo and his team to ensure that your mandate is returned. The people’s choice cannot be silenced, and justice will prevail.
