In a statement signed by Ekundayo Collins Ukponmwan, DDG Egor/Ikpoba Okha, Federal Constituency, PDP Campaign Council, the party addressed the recent defections of several members and highlighted the fundamental democratic right of individuals to associate with any political organization that aligns with their ideals and aspirations.
They assured members and supporters that the party has the necessary resources and commitment to win the upcoming election.
They further encouraged loyal members to stay focused and not be distracted by the defections, highlighting that the party’s strength comes from its dedicated base.
The statement reads: “The attention of Egor PDP Leadership has been drawn to the defection of few party members from our umbrella party. In affirmation to what democracy represents, the freedom of association is a fundamental human right and every individual has the liberty to align with any political organization that best represents their ideals and aspirations at a time.
Our party, the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) has always stood for unity, progress, development, integrity, and the aforesaid values have attracted dedicated members over the years. PDP as a party has the finest candidates for the Governorship election and EDO people (EGOR People) have resolved to vote Dr.Asuerinmen Ighodalo and Barrister Osarodion Ogie come September 21st, 2024.
The EGOR PDP leadership has what it takes to deliver our candidates in the forthcoming election. We won’t give room to any form of distractions. However, to our loyal members and supporters, your dedication is the backbone of our party and we value your continued support and urge you to remain steadfast. Together, we will overcome any and every challenge and continue to strive for the betterment of our constituency.
However, those with electoral values and capacity are still within the party and are working assiduously to secure victories for our party the PDP, we recognize that those who have departed have no electoral values to give to our party and wish them well in their future political undertakings.
In conclusion, let’s remember that political parties are not just about the individuals who come and go, but about the collective vision which is to improve the lives of Edo citizens and residents by giving them access to affordable health insurance, a standard Education for their children, the required infrastructural development, and much more. The APC’s lack of thoughtful policies has been the root cause of our nation’s suffering. Therefore, in the best interests of our beloved state, the APC is insufficiently qualified to lead our state.
Our party remains committed to this vision, and with your support, we will continue to work towards a prosperous and united EGOR.”
