In a splendid ceremony held at the Rivers State Government House on Friday, Governor Fubara exhibited his appreciation for outstanding sportsmanship by awarding a cash gift of N20 million to Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali.
The governor commended Nwabali for his stellar performance, which undoubtedly contributed to the success of the Super Eagles.
In recognition of his exceptional achievements, Governor Fubara further nominated the goalkeeper for the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State (DSSRS), a prestigious state award reserved for individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their respective fields.
This accolade is the second-highest honor bestowed upon distinguished individuals, including high-profile politicians, serving and former governors.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of key figures from the Super Eagles, including Coach Jose Peseiro and Finidi George.
In acknowledgment of their commendable efforts at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast, the entire Super Eagles crew received a collective cash reward of N30 million.
This generous gesture serves as a testament to the governor’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence in sports.
