The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the forthcoming Edo State Governorship election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, has expressed his readiness to lead Edo State to new heights, amidst distraction from opposition camps.
Speaking in Abuja on Saturday while addressing the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Council for the upcoming Edo State Governorship Election, Ighodalo acknowledged the significant challenges ahead but expressed confidence in overcoming them with the steadfast support of party stakeholders and the people of Edo State.
“I know it’s not going to be easy; it’s going to be very difficult,” Ighodalo said.
“We’ve already seen signs that this will be a challenging election, not just due to issues but largely because of distractions. But sometimes, distractions are more difficult to deal with than issues.”
Despite these hurdles, Ighodalo emphasized his readiness and the collective resolve of his team to give their all to ensure victory. He praised the capable leaders within the PDP who are prepared to propel the party to success, saying,
“Every man and woman in this room is fully committed to doing the necessary work to take us through this hurdle.”
Ighodalo assured the people of Edo State of his dedication to delivering exceptional governance if elected.
“We’ll give this everything we have. We’ll give it our 150% commitment. We will ensure that we make our great party extremely proud,” he declared.
“By God’s grace, when we get into Government House, we will work hard so that our party will be more than proud to have presented us as their candidates.”
The campaign event also saw strong endorsements from prominent party members. Lucky Igbinedion, a two-term governor of Edo State, expressed his confidence in Ighodalo’s capability to deliver. He commended the leadership of the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, for his role as Chairman of the Campaign Council and praised his doggedness which secured him a second term despite significant challenges.
“We want to congratulate you and also show that doggedness in this campaign,” Igbinedion said, addressing Fintiri. “Talking about our candidates, there is no doubt that you are working hard. If hard work translates to victory, we have already won.”
The campaign received a boost with the defection of notable figures from other parties in Edo State, including Alhaji Musa and High Chief Francis Ndengweni, who were present at the event.
