The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially approved Wednesday, May 21, 2026, as the passing-out date for corps members of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II.
The announcement was made by the scheme’s management, which confirmed that the event will be conducted as a low-key ceremony featuring the distribution of Certificates of National Service to deserving corps members across all local government areas in the country.
The date marks the formal conclusion of a one-year mandatory national service for the batch of Nigerian graduates who commenced their orientation exercise in 2025.
Activities leading up to the passing-out event include Job Advisory and Counselling sessions organised by the Corps and relevant partner agencies, as well as the signing of final clearance forms by Zonal Inspectors.
Corps members have been advised to complete all documentation processes in a timely manner to avoid delays in the issuance of their certificates.
The NYSC management also urged outgoing corps members to conduct themselves properly during the winding-up period and to uphold the values of the scheme as they transition back to civilian and professional life.
NYSC is a programme established by the Nigerian government in 1973 to promote national unity, integration, and development. It is a one-year mandatory service for Nigerian graduates under the age of 30, which includes a three-week orientation camp, a primary assignment phase, and a community development service period.
During their service year, the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II corps members were posted to various places of primary assignment across the country, where they contributed to sectors such as education, health, and agriculture.
The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, is expected to wish the outgoing corps members well and to encourage them to carry the core values of the scheme into their post-service endeavours as ambassadors of national unity.
