French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Russia to accept a 30-day ceasefire proposal in Ukraine, following a meeting between US and Ukrainian officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Macron said that Russia’s delaying tactics and aggression in Ukraine must end, stressing that “the atrocities must stop.”

In a post on his X account, Macron revealed that he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer about the ceasefire proposal.

He also announced plans for a video conference to explore further measures to support Ukraine and achieve lasting peace.

The US-backed proposal for a 30-day ceasefire was announced earlier this week, with Ukraine agreeing to the terms in exchange for renewed security assistance from the US.

The situation remains critical, with Macron urging Russia to accept the ceasefire to prevent further escalation.
