Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday, electrified the political atmosphere in Igueben, the headquarters of Igueben Local Government Area of Esanland, as he continued the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign for the highly anticipated September 21 election.

The day also marked the commissioning of the Union Bank Road, constructed under his administration’s vision for a modern Edo State.

Massive crowd welcome Ighodalo during campaign

Truth Live News gathered that, In a display of respect for the elders, Governor Obaseki extended the honor of commissioning the project to Elder Statesman, Chief Tom Ikimi.

Accepting the governor’s invitation, Ikimi performed the commissioning with an air of satisfaction, symbolizing the alignment of Edo’s progress with the endorsement of respected Esan leaders.

At the rally, held at Eguare Primary School, Governor Obaseki showered praises on Chief Ikimi and the Selection Committee for their foresight in selecting Asue Ighodalo, a man whose credibility and competence echoed across Nigeria.

Obaseki remarked, “I hold Esan elders in the highest regard.”

“Their wisdom and intelligence are undisputed. In choosing Asue Ighodalo, you have chosen someone of immense stature. Ighodalo is no stranger to success, having led multi-national corporations with distinction.”

When he assumes office, he will not only continue the Edo Master Plan but will enhance it with more transformative projects.”

Chief Ikimi, in his speech, further solidified Ighodalo’s candidacy, proclaiming him as the consensus choice of the Esan people.

“In 2020, we laid the foundation of the Esan agenda. Today, we have actualized that vision,” Ikimi declared.

Crediting the selection process that saw Esan North East and Esan South East unite to pick the strongest candidate.

His sharp critique of APC, particularly of Adams Oshiomhole and his alleged marginalization of the Esan Onojie, underlined the PDP’s narrative of a fresh and competent leadership under Ighodalo.

“Oshiomhole is not a man to be trusted. He reduced the dignity of our people, but Obaseki restored that honor by returning the Esan Onojie to his rightful place,” Ikimi pointed out.

“We have moved past an era dominated by thuggery and corruption. With Obaseki’s digital governance initiative, Edo has entered a new era. Ighodalo is the face of that future.”

Asue Ighodalo, in his address to the enthusiastic crowd, appealed to the people of Igueben to rally behind the PDP’s vision of progress and sustainable development.

“This election is a contest between light and darkness, progress or retrogression, competence or incompetence.

The choice before you is clear—vote for light, vote for the PDP,” Ighodalo urged.

He assured the crowd that all ongoing projects would be completed and new ones initiated, promising to carry on with the wealth creation and prosperity schemes that have defined Obaseki’s administration.

In a poignant statement, he vowed to end the reign of intimidation in local markets.

“We will not tolerate lions and tigers harassing our mothers, extorting money from them.

“That era is over,” he said, signaling a commitment to law, order, and the dignity of all Edo citizens.

Local Government Chairman, Hon. Engr. Clement Asuelimenh, in his welcome remarks, expressed gratitude to Governor Obaseki, noting that the people of Igueben are fully behind the PDP. “Governor, we appreciate you for keeping your promise and presenting us with a capable Esan son.

“We assure you of our unwavering support and votes in this election,” he said.

The event was punctuated by the overwhelming endorsement of Ighodalo from various speakers, all united in their resolve not to abandon a good product for a lesser alternative.

In Igueben, the message was clear: the PDP, under the leadership of Asue Ighodalo, is the path to sustained progress and prosperity for the people of Esanland.

This rally not only showcased the PDP’s stronghold in Igueben but also amplified the voices of those ready to usher in a new era of leadership, guided by integrity, innovation, and a commitment to lifting the people of Edo to new heights of development.
