The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is actively mobilizing council chairmen, party leaders, and other stakeholders to enhance efforts on the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection.
This initiative aims to ensure that a greater number of eligible voters are registered and have their PVCs ready for upcoming elections.
By engaging local leaders and stakeholders, the PDP hopes to increase voter turnout and participation in the democratic process.
Dr. Osaigbovo Iyoha, the Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, made a significant appeal during a sensitization exercise conducted alongside other PDP leaders.
This event took place across several locations: Uromi in Esan North East, Ubiaja in Esan South East, Irrua in Esan Central, and Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Areas.
The focus of the exercise was to encourage eligible voters to participate in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and ensure they collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
This effort is part of a broader strategy to boost voter registration and engagement ahead of future elections.
Iyoha’s statement highlights the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise aims to include several key groups in the electoral process.
These groups include individuals who turn 18 years old, those who change their residence or move from state to state, and people who have been disenfranchised.
The goal is to ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to register and participate in elections, thereby promoting a more inclusive and representative democratic process.
“We are encouraging people to always exercise their right to vote and actively participate in elections by choosing the candidates they believe in.”
“Elections should focus on important issues, and voters should select the best candidate capable of effectively performing the job.”
“We are here to remind our people that the election process begins with proper preparation.”
“We must prepare thoroughly and ensure that the best candidates win because Edo is our collective heritage.”
“It’s essential to entrust the state to someone who can elevate it beyond the achievements of Governor Godwin Obaseki,” he said.
The Special Adviser to the Governor for the Edo Central Senatorial District, Dr. Philomena Ihenyen, expressed gratitude to the governor for fulfilling his promise to hand over to an Esan candidate.
She acknowledged that this move has realized a long-held dream of the Esan people, which has spanned over 12 to 14 years.
“Obaseki is a blessing to the Esan people.”
“The governor has done well over these seven and a half years.”
“We all need to support Asue Ighodalo to lead Edo State as our governor come September 21, 2024,” Ihenyen said.
