ABUJA, NIGERIA – Influential stakeholders and political figures from Cross River State have endorsed the performance of Governor Bassey Edet Otu, after three years in office, describing his administration’s achievements as evidence of progress in infrastructure, economic revitalization and people-centered governance.
The endorsements followed a special town hall meeting organized by the Cross River State Government in Abuja to commemorate the governor’s third anniversary in office.
The event, themed “Inside Governor Otu’s Three Years of Bold Rebirth of Cross River State,” brought together Cross River indigenes, investors, stakeholders and government supporters.
Among those who commended the administration was Engr. Ben Etim Akak, the Deputy National Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bengies Group of Companies, and founder of the Ben Akak Foundation.
Akak, a former APC governorship aspirant in Cross River State and a prominent figure within the ruling party, said the event provided an opportunity to reflect on the administration’s achievements and developmental gains.
In a Facebook post sighted by Truth Live News, Akak said, “I was privileged to be part of the Town Hall Meeting held for Cross Riverians in Abuja to commemorate the third anniversary of the administration of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.”
According to him, the last three years have been marked by significant developmental strides across the state, particularly in infrastructure renewal, human capital development, economic revitalization and strategic investments.
“When I was invited to make a toast during the symbolic cutting of the anniversary cake, I could not help but express my admiration for the remarkable progress taking place across the state,” Akak stated.
The APC national officer further asserted that the transformation taking place in Cross River State compared favorably with developments in advanced societies, adding that ongoing investments in infrastructure and social programmes were yielding visible results.
“In many respects, the transformation we are witnessing compares favorably with developments in advanced societies around the world,” he said.
Akak congratulated Governor Otu on what he described as “three years of purposeful leadership and transformative governance,” expressing confidence in the administration’s continued success.
Similarly, Richard Romanus, Convener of the US4US Movement, former Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, and an aspirant for the Obubra I State Constituency seat in the Cross River State House of Assembly, also praised the governor’s performance.
Romanus, in a separate Facebook post sighted by Truth Live News, said he joined other eminent Cross Riverians at the anniversary town hall meeting organized to showcase the achievements of the state government.
“It was a special event deliberately put together to showcase the remarkable achievements of the People First Government in the last three years,” he stated.
The former gubernatorial aide said presentations made by speakers at the event reinforced his belief that the administration had delivered on key aspects of its development agenda.
“The facts as presented by the various speakers as to what the government has done were undeniable,” Romanus said.
Expressing optimism about the future of the administration, he added: “I therefore have no doubt in my mind that the next one year plus four is going to witness even more breathtaking achievements.”
The endorsements by Akak and Romanus reflect the views of some stakeholders who attended the anniversary event, with participants highlighting what they described as gains recorded under Governor Otu’s “People First” agenda.
The Abuja town hall meeting formed part of activities marking the governor’s third year in office and served as a platform to showcase projects, policies and investments undertaken by the administration since assuming office in May 2023.
Truth Live News reports that the event attracted a broad spectrum of Cross River stakeholders, including political leaders, business interests, investors and members of the diaspora community.
