Two prominent aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Sani M. Kabiru, have withdrawn from the party’s senatorial primary elections scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026.
Na’Allah, a former senator who represented Kebbi South Senatorial District, announced his withdrawal in a letter dated May 17 and addressed to the APC state chairman in Birnin Kebbi.
Explaining his decision, he said the move followed consultations and information available to him regarding the party’s disposition toward the forthcoming primary election.
“After careful consultations and credible information available to me regarding the disposition of the party toward the forthcoming primary election, I have decided to withdraw from the contest,” he stated.
Na’Allah said despite his long-standing commitment and sacrifices toward the growth of the APC as a founding member at both the state and national levels, he chose to step aside in the interest of party unity.
“I have dedicated over 14 years to building and strengthening this party. My decision is borne out of respect for the unity, peace, and progress of the APC,” he added.
The former lawmaker also expressed appreciation to his supporters and constituents, especially those who contributed financially toward the purchase of his nomination form.
“I remain grateful to my supporters and the good people of Kebbi South for their trust, encouragement, and sacrifices throughout this journey,” he said.
Similarly, Sani M. Kabiru, popularly known as Kabiru Sani Giant, withdrew from the race for the Kebbi Central Senatorial District ticket.
In a separate letter dated May 16 and addressed to the party leadership, Kabiru said his withdrawal was based on “personal, political, and strategic considerations.”
He thanked party leaders, campaign coordinators, and supporters for standing by him throughout his aspiration.
“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support and solidarity shown to me by party stakeholders, supporters, and members of my campaign team,” Kabiru stated.
He also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged continued support for the party ahead of future elections.
“My commitment to the APC remains unwavering, and I will continue to work for the success and stability of our great party,” he added.
The withdrawals come amid increasing political realignments and internal consultations within the APC in Kebbi State ahead of the senatorial primaries.
