Although, it is too early to fault the secret service agency for the shootout that occured in Hilton Hotel, but with the attack coming less than two years after he survived assassination at his west palm beach course this, then this attack can just be termed to be the genesis of more attack on the President.

At least five shots rang out around 8:35 p.m. from the back of the ballroom, as attendees were eating their first course just minutes after White House Correspondents’ Association President Weijia Jiang delivered her opening remarks.

Vice President JD Vance and several members of Trump’s Cabinet who were also in attendance were rushed out of the venue.

A Secret Service agent was struck by a round but was wearing a bulletproof vest and is expected to recover. The gunman was taken alive but was injured and hospitalized. Trump’s security team was not aware of any threats prior to the dinner, according to the president himself.

When asked whether he believed he was the suspect’s target, Trump said, “I guess,” adding that information about the alleged shooter’s motivations would emerge in the coming days.

The incident marks the third time Trump’s security has come under intense scrutiny. Trump survived an assassination attempt during a July 2024 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and a few months later, a man attempted to assassinate him while he was golfing at his West Palm Beach course.

Trump’s deputy chief of staff, Dan Scavino, said the attack brought back “a lot of terrible memories” of the Butler shooting.
