Nyesom Wike, the recently inaugurated Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), officially assumed his role on Monday and made a commitment to reinstate the city’s original master plan.
During his inaugural press conference, he announced that individuals who had been granted Certificates of Occupancy for land but had not followed through with development would forfeit their plots to accommodate those prepared to construct.
He emphatically declared that the practice of obtaining Letters of Intent for resale purposes instead of adhering to the agreement to construct has reached its conclusion. He straightforwardly stated, “If you are aware that you have erected structures where they are not permitted, they will be brought down. My apologies, but they will be demolished.”
