West Ham United is reportedly preparing to make a bid for Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi during the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to reports from Football365.com, Nottingham Forest is open to the idea of offloading the Nigerian international to avoid further breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations.

Nottingham Forest recently admitted to violating the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules and received a four-point deduction as punishment. To prevent a recurrence of the offense next season, Forest is considering selling one of their key players during the summer transfer window.

Taiwo Awoniyi has emerged as a potential candidate for sale, with West Ham United expressing interest in the striker. Although West Ham’s bid for Awoniyi was rejected by Forest last summer, the Premier League club is poised to make another move for the former Liverpool player at the end of the current season.

Awoniyi, who has already netted twice against West Ham this season, has been a standout performer for Nottingham Forest, scoring six league goals thus far. The 26-year-old Nigerian forward joined Nottingham Forest from Bundesliga side Union Berlin for £17.5m in June 2022.
