Palmer, Maguire Miss Out as Tuchel Names England’s 26-Man Squad for 2026 World Cup

Thomas Tuchel has officially unveiled his 26-man England squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Three Lions hoping to end decades of hurt and win their first World Cup title since 1966.

The squad announcement comes with several shock inclusions and high-profile omissions, as Tuchel begins a new era with a mix of youth, experience and tactical flexibility. Harry Kane will captain the side heading into the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Among the biggest surprises is the inclusion of Ivan Toney, who returns to the national team after an impressive season in Saudi Arabia, while Djed Spence also makes the final cut ahead of several established names.

However, the headline omissions have sparked major reactions among fans, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Harry Maguire all left out of the final squad.

Tuchel is said to have prioritised team chemistry, tactical discipline and current form over reputation, with several younger players earning places ahead of senior stars.

England head into the tournament as one of the favourites and will begin their World Cup campaign in Group L against Croatia, Ghana and Panama.
